Tryout times and other details – MUST READ

Okay guys, at this point in time, we are still good to go for tryouts. I have posted the times for JV and Freshmen tryouts, which you can see on the UTR page. Your opponent might change between now and then, but the times will remain.

JV and Freshmen Boys will play matches Tuesday at 8am, 10am, and 1pm.

Freshmen Girls will play Tuesday at 8:30, 10:30, and 1:30pm

JV girls will play Tuesday at 9am, 11am, and 2pm.

Times might change based on match lengths.

I have not posted the Varsity draws since I will be bringing some JV/Freshmen boys up to try out. I will try to post them by the end of the day Tuesday, but plan on the following:

Varsity Girls Wednesday at 8am, 10am, and 1pm.

Varsity Boys Wednesday at 9am, 11am, and 2pm.

Times might change based on match lengths.

Reminder, all players must have a physical on file as well as signing off on everything on RankOne. Please make sure you take care of this.

ALL PLAYERS AND PARENTS MUST ALSO VIEW OUR COVID-19 TENNIS POLICY AND SIGN OFF ON THE POLICY HERE.

We will have some new rules this year because of the pandemic. EVERYONE MUST WEAR A FACE MAKS UNLESS ON THE COURT! We will not have jugs of water available.

I am trying to limit the number of players at the court at one time right now, but if you won’t have transportation, you may stay at the tennis courts during the day.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Tryouts are Back On!

It seems like every time I try to do something proactive, the universe goes against me. The day I postpone tryouts, I get told that we can start.

Tryouts are on again for next week. August 4-6.

All players must have a physical on file to participate. You can find the paperwork here. You will need to get your physical to Coach Tran. Do not send them to me! You might be able to take it to him the day of, but that could be a risk. I will send out his email in the remind groups. There are also files on RankOne that need to be signed off on.

I need all players to register for the tryout event on UTR. The password is Brook20. All incoming freshmen, sign up for the Freshmen team at this point. If you played varsity last year, have a USTA Champ or better qualification, a verified UTR ranking of 5 or better, or you will be a senior this year, you can sign up for Varsity tryouts. All others should be in the JV tryouts.

All players will need to follow the tennis COVID protocol which will be uploaded before the event. If anyone has symptoms or doesn’t feel able to follow the protocol, please stay home for the safety of everyone.

I am going to try to schedule tryout matches to limit the number of players on-site at one time. Please make sure that you register for the event so I can try to get the schedule completed. Share with anyone that you know that wants to try out for tennis.

If you can’t make it next week, don’t panic. Touch base with me to let me know and let me know when you get back. I will arrange a match.

Thank you all for being flexible.

Tryouts Postponed

Because of the Harris County order that schools remain closed, we are not able to hold tryouts next week as planned.

I have been trying to hold off on giving out any information about tryouts and rescheduling until I had more guidance from the administration, but I think we are all in a waiting game. Since I have been getting a copious amount of questions about it, I thought it would be best to let you know for planning purposes.

For school planning purposes, if you are choosing to attend brick and mortar school, make sure you are signed up for a tennis class. We will try to get you in the correct one for now and will keep you up-to-date on a new plan to confirm the roster.

If you are doing Clear Connections, I would recommend that you check this website often, make sure you are following @Clearbrook10s on Twitter and that you are getting Remind Updates.

Also, right now, we do have a fall schedule, but it will most likely be changed. We are trying our hardest to have a fall season!

Once I have more information, I will update you. Until then, stay safe!

Wolverine Tennis Camp Canceled for 2020

Hello everyone,
Out of an abundance of caution and limitations placed on camps and coaches this year, I have made the decision to cancel all Wolverine Tennis Camps for 2020.  I would encourage players that are ready to get out there and get a camp-like atmosphere to look at one of our booster club sponsors Bay Area Racquet Club.
There is a chance that as the numbers come down that I will offer some practice, but right now, I’m honestly just trying to keep my family safe.
Also right now, try-outs are still scheduled for August 4-6. We might use a different format for tryouts this year to attempt to limit the number of players at the courts.  Make sure that you check http://clearbrooktennis.org as we get closer to that date for more information.
I hope you and your families are staying safe and enjoying the summer as much as you can right now.

Stay safe.

1st Week of July Wolverine Tennis Camps Canceled

Unfortunately, we still have not been given an all-clear by the UIL or the school district, so I’m sad to say the first week of tennis camp has been canceled. With the spike in cases in Houston, I don’t think it will be safe to even run the camp.  Hopefully, more information will come out and the numbers will go down and we will be able to do something with tennis before school begins.

I will keep you posted on the rest of the weeks and try-outs in the coming weeks.

Thank you and stay safe,

Your Coaches

Wolverine Tennis Camp 2020

Update 5/12: All June camps are canceled because of the virus. We are still planning on holding the July camps.

Hopefully, this pandemic will let up a little and we can get back to normal life. With that said, we are going to attempt to hold The Wolverine Tennis Camp 2020.

This year we will attempt to hold 5 sessions over the summer. Please make sure when you register, that you have the correct email and phone number entered incase we are not allowed to host the camp.

We also ask that you hold off on payment until the first day of camp, or the first camp session makes. We don’t want money getting lost if things have to be canceled or moved around.

Please be flexible this summer, as we aren’t sure what will happen yet, but I wanted to get this in your hands to help with summer planning.

You can register online here.

Area list of Challengers

One of our students put together this amazing list of all the area challengers.

Great Champions play as often as possible. It is the expectation of the coaches at Clear Brook that our players play as many challengers as possible.

The above document has links directly to tournaments as well as dates and locations.

If there are any issues, please ask the coaches
